Sometime or the other we have to introduce our toddlers to TV and what is better to have them watch something which is true Edutainment- that is education and entertainment together. Since, my Li'l Champ is fond of Disney Junior (Star Hub Channel 311 in Singapore), here is a list of some of the best Edutainment shows for toddlers-
1. Mickey Mouse Club House
The cast include #MickeyMouse, #MiniMouse, #DonaldDuck, #DaisyDuck, #Goofy and #Pluto with guest appearance by some other characters. Each episode of the Show begins with a problem to be solved and the cast interacts with the viewers while solving it. Most of time there would be teachings like counting upto 10, shapes, matching objects. This is a great show for preschoolers and who doesn't love Mickey Mouse!
Airs at following times in Singapore- 11.00 am and 7.00 pm.
2. Hi-5
A children's musical show by a Children's Band by the same name. The band has 5 members and the show has lot for entertaining and musical activities for kids including a story telling session. My Champ just loves the show. Airs at following times in Singapore- 10.00 am and 2.00 pm.
3. Let's Go POCOYO
It is a show for enhancing English vocabulary for toddlers and preschoolers with lot of interactive activities. Set in a 3D space, with a plain white background, it is about Pocoyo, a 3-year-old boy, interacting with his friends Pato (a duck), Elly (an elephant) and Loula (a dog). The narrator usually speaks explicitly to the viewers and to the characters as well. My Champ learnt a lot from this show specially using phrases like "Thank you", "Sorry", "Excuse Me", "Oh Dear!" etc. in their correct context. Airs at following time in Singapore- 5.30 pm.
4. Word World
This show is partially developed by US Department of Education and aims at building vocabulary and teaching phonics. In the Word World, there are lot of animals and again, in every episode, there is a problem and the only way to solve it is to build a word. When the letters are combined to build the word, it forms into the same object like C, A and R when put together will turn out like a Car. Airs at following time in Singapore- 8.30 pm.
5. Timmy Time
Timmy, the lamb and his friends have to learn to share, make friends and accept their mistakes. They are supervised by two teachers, Harriet the Heron and Osbourne the Owl. The show is aimed at preschool aged children. There are no dialogues in the show and all the characters communicate with their animal sounds.Airs at following times in Singapore- 3.30 pm, 4.00 pm and 9.00 pm
Hope you enjoy these shows with your li'l one(s). You may like to check Disney Junior TV Guide (here) for any change in timings of the shows.
