[High 5] Best Disney Junior Shows for Toddlers

Sometime or the other we have to introduce our toddlers to TV and what is better to have them watch something which is true Edutainment- that is education and entertainment together. Since, my Li'l Champ is fond of Disney Junior (Star Hub Channel 311 in Singapore), here is a list of some of the best Edutainment shows for toddlers-

1. Mickey Mouse Club House
The cast include #MickeyMouse, #MiniMouse, #DonaldDuck, #DaisyDuck, #Goofy and #Pluto with guest appearance by some other characters. Each episode of the Show begins with a problem to be solved and the cast interacts with the viewers while solving it. Most of time there would be teachings like counting upto 10, shapes, matching objects. This is a great show for preschoolers and who doesn't love Mickey Mouse!
Airs at following times in Singapore- 11.00 am and 7.00 pm.

High 5- The Style Must-Haves NOW!!

The classics that always are in vogue but are like the Fashion Must Haves at this moment-

1. Lace
To bring out your feminine side or just to add a bit of sexiness and mystery to your personality, go for lacy dresses in pastel or vibrant colours and see how this seemingly boring and traditional or ultra feminine fabric can work wonders for you!

2. Graphic Prints
Go as far as you want with the extreme and crazy Graphical prints but remember to team them up with accessories in solid colours.

3. Sleeveless
Go sleeveless to show off your well toned arms or if you are not very comfortable showing your arms (like me), add on a lacy cardigan or a bolero; to be able to wear sleeveless yet need not expose your flabby arms. To know what kind of sleeveless top looks good on you, register for Online Shape & Style Analysis with me at an Introductory price from S$25 (Usual Price- S$45). Send a mail at nsur20@gmail.com to know more.

4. Delicate Necklace
Delicate chain necklaces look great on their own or if you are someone who doesn't feel comfortable with so less of necklace, you may like to mix and match two or more chains in different lengths or add more than one pendant in a single chain (taking care not to make it extremely heavy)!

5. Pink (Clothes and Accessories)
Whether you want to be sweet and innocent or flirty and sexy or you just want to add a spark to a seemingly boring outfit, pink is the new black... Go for pastel and powdery shades for added sweetness, or fuchsia and hot pink for a flirty touch to your personality or outfit. Everyone has a perfect shade of pink for them. To know your shade of pink or other colours as well, register for Online Colour Consultation with me at an Introductory price from S$20 (Usual Price- S$40). High 5- Toddler Bag Essentials

So, we graduated from Diaper Bag/ Mother's Bag to Toddler Bag. As our kids reach this stage, they want to be independent and my Champ loves to carry his own bag as well. We go out more often; most of the time for play-dates, usually for a couple of hours. So in this bag of his, I tend to pack a few things making sure that he has something to eat and drink and most important, something to keep him occupied while travelling. So let me share with you all a list of essentials for a Toddler's bag.

First of all select a light weight bag which your child also likes. My Champ's favorite is this soft bag with a stuffed teddy.
THE BAG

THE CONTENTS

1. Water Bottle
2. Tissues, Wet Tissues and Cloth Towel
3. Cars and Book to keep him busy while travelling. You may like to keep any of his/her favorite toys. And yes Mumma's or Papa's phone is also a part of this category.
4. A tetra pack or your kid's favorite drink
5. A snack box with some finger food or snacks

Apart from these, you may like to pack a couple of diapers and baby wipes if your child is not yet toilet-trained. This small bag is enough if you are out for about 2-3 hours.

What are the essentials that go into your toddler's bag? Do leave a comment and share...

High 5- Tips to boost energy

We mums often feel tired and fatigued. Most of the time it seems we are in constant need of energy drinks or caffeine shots  but actually these really do not help. Energy drinks are packed with sugar and may give you an instant shot of energy for a while but brings back fatigue soon after the high. Go for some healthy options which will provide slow release of energy to keep you going for long!
Here are some alternatives to energy drinks or caffeinated products-

1. Make sure that the meals have more of complex carbs like pasta, porridge, wholemeal products and vegetables.

2. Eating a bowl of salad before each meal to keep you full and release energy slowly.

3. Drink as much water as possible, throughout the day as well as during the meals

4. Fruit smoothies whenever you feel the need to have an energy drink

5. Snack on nuts, they not only provide energy but also add on benefits like glowing skin and complexion.

High 5- Great Apps for Toddlers (iPhone/ iPad)

I won't go into the debate of whether toddlers should be allowed to handle your smartphones or Tabs (I'll leave it for another post). But, if like me, you feel that there is no harm in giving your toddlers these "Smart toys" to play and learn, you may like to download these apps on your iPhone/ iPad to keep your toddler occupied. All these Apps have been personally experienced by me, Mr. Scientist and our Champ.

1. Sound Touch Lite (Free), Sound Touch (paid): Great for learning animal sounds, identifying animals, vehicles, household objects, musical instruments etc.

2. Kids Song collection (Free & Paid): Interactive Collection of Nursery Rhymes. Paid version has more.

3. Wheels on Bus: Popular Nursery rhyme "Wheels on the bus goes..." along with lot of interactive games suitable for Hand Eye co-ordination.

4. Baby Dress Up/ Puppy Dog Sitter: The toddler learns to dress up a baby/puppy and take care of it by feeding, bathing and putting her to bed/ plying with it.

5. Toddler Puzzle Shapes: Helps to identify shapes in a fun way!
