[Review] Latest Vanity Trove

Hi Lovelies,
With the new concept at Vanity Trove, where you get to choose the sample from the given list based on your beauty profile (To know more about how it works, read here), I ordered my second box and received it on the second day... that was quick, I must say!
Let me show you what was in there...

This time I wanted to sample following products from the list provided, let me talk about them-
1. ENAVOSE Bundle Set- Alpine Edelweiss Foam Cleanser & Alpine Edelweiss Dew, 30ml each (Retail Price- Cleanser: S$ 39.50 for 120ml, Dew: S$45.00 for 120ml)- Enavose is a Swiss brand, which has products made from Natural extracts. The Edelweiss flower is known for its antioxidants, skin protection, soothing and bacteria-resistant properties. This comforting cleanser bathes skin in nourishing and age-delaying benefits. On trying, the product, I experienced a bit of dryness on my face, since I have combination skin with oily T-zone. May be the cleanser will work better for those with oily skin.
The Alpine Edelweiss Dew is a stimulating toner which revitalise, rehydrate and refresh the skin. Skin regains energy with high antioxidant protection and collagen synthesis support. A constant supply of moisture is channelled to dry areas of skin for optimal suppleness. The toner is a slightly viscous liquid with a pleasant fragrance. On application, you feel instant freshness and it definitely felt better on applying the Dew after the Cleanser, but there is still a need to use moisturizer. The products can be purchased at Suntec Enavose Concept Store, Suntec City Tower 3, #02-079/081 and Tangs Vivocity Enavose Beauty Counter, Level One Beauty Hall. Value of Sample- Cleanser: S$9.87, Dew: S$11.25.

2. CYBER COLOURS Ex Volume Waterproof Mascara

This was a full sized sample worth almost S$34.00. Will review this product in a separate post.

3. DrGL Collagen Essence, 10ml (Retail Price- S$198.00 for 30ml)- This is a light weight essence suitable for all skin types. It contains Hyaluronic Acid, which can retain upto 1000 times its weight of water. On application, it did feel moisturized and the skin felt hydrated and refreshed. Seems to be an effective product, will have to use it for a while to know exactly how it works. Value of sample- S$66.

4. Blumarine Bellissima Acqua di Primavera, 30ml (Retail Price- S$51.00)- This was another full sized sample and I will review it in another post.

5. Pearl Beauty Youth Restore with Black Pearl Essence, 3ml (Retail Price- S$21.90 for 30ml)- Pearl Beauty is low cost but effective skincare range from WATSONS. This essence is formulated for Advanced skin restoration. It restructures your skin, repairs free radical damage and slows down skin aging, all while firming and smoothing out fine lines. The essence has a light texture and is quickly absorbed leaving the skin feel refreshed and hydrated. An interesting product yet again, need to try it on for a while. Value of sample- S$2.20.

6. Sasatinnie Sugary Heart Lipgloss Palette, 01 Party Collection, 1.1g X3 (Retail Price- S$12.60)- This is a full size lip gloss palette. It contains Pearl Powder which creates a shimmering and translucent lip finish. Also it soothes and diminishes fine lines of lips, protects skin from UV damage.

The colours are interesting and are those colours, which I can use almost everyday. And did I tell you, that they smell like strawberry... WOW!

7. Aqua Rine Japanese Aroma Bath Sea Salt Peach, 50g (Retail Price- S$ 9.80 for 400g)- The Aroma Bath Sea Salt range helps to exfoliate dead skin cells and cleanse the skin. The Peach Bath Sea Salt detoxifies the skin and reduces signs of ageing with its special peach leaf ingredient. Value of Sample- S$1.22.

8. Huiji Fruity Lite, 15g X2 Sachets (Retail Price- S$6.90 for box of 12 packets)- This was the surprise product. Huiji Fruity Lite are made from all natural ingredients like high-grade hawthorn fruit and honey. In addition, it also contains added vitamin C and xylitol and helps cleanse and promote a healthy digestive system. It is conveniently packaged in easy-to-carry sachets. The taste was like fruit tea and it tasted better when chilled. It can be consumed everyday even if it may not show any health benefits, it's a nice tasty beverage. Value of sample- S$1.15.

So, this was all about the products in Vanity Trove. I could order for a good mix of products including skin care, make up, shower, fragrance and received the fruity tea as well.
This concept of selecting what you want is no doubt quite interesting as you can pick and choose from a list of products that you would really like and have a variety of products to try but on the down side-
1. The surprize element is missing. Though you get one product as a surprise but then also, I feel if you are a bit hesitant about new products or select your products based on their name and appearance, you may like to skip quite a few of the products in the list given for selection.
2. While when the products were selected by the team and given to you, one has more chances of getting a completely new product and since you have it, you might as well like to try it, so it opens up more product options for you and reduce the element of bias that may creep in when you are selecting.
3. To unlock new samples, you constantly have to like and put products into your wishlist and that is fun but after a while, it does not feel that exciting. And it kind of takes away the fun of somebody else selecting things for you and pampering you.
4. Also, the luxe brands are more often than not missing from the selection.
5. Chances of receiving a full-size sample are not so good.

So, if I give 10 on 10 for the previous concept of Vanity Trove, for this I would give 8 on 10.

[Review] Personalized Vanity Trove

In one of my posts, a few days ago, I told you all about the new Customizable Trove from Vanity Trove (You may check the post here). Well, I got my Personalized trove on Monday (they tried to deliver earlier but we were out for the weekend and I was not there to collect it) and let me show you how it was and what was there inside (of course, it was not a surprise as I only selected all the products, but to get to try things you really wanted to... is wonderful!).
The trove came in a beige and gold packing than their usual white and pink.

What I love most about Vanity Trove is their packaging. It really feels good when you receive your beauty products in beautifully packed boxes. Really appreciate the efforts of the team for making the trove so lovable. Let's see what is inside this luxurious gold trove

These were the products that I selected from their list which was given based on my beauty profile. I selected seven products and one was given as a bonus from the Team. Thank you Vanity Trove!!!
Let me now talk about the products

1. Kao KAO Essential Rich Premier Shampoo, 80ml (Retail Price- S$4.50 for 200ml)- This was the bonus product that I received. It is a moisturizing shampoo for unmanageable hair that reduces breakage. You may find the complete product description and reviews here. Value of sample- S$1.80.

2. NUXE Gentle Tonic Lotion, 35ml (Retail Price- S$38 for 200ml)- This a skin toner with mild fragrance of Rose. I wanted to try this because I am in a constant look out for toners. Although I am loyal user of Rose water with Camphor as a toner but sometimes when I recommend products for my clients, some of them do not prefer rose-water and hence I try out toners from different brands. This toner leaves your skin refreshed. Value of Sample- S$6.65.

3. Bio-essence Bird's Nest Nutri-Collagen & Whitening Sleeping Mask, 3g (Retail Price- S$29.80 for 60g)-  This is a whitening mask, which will work while you sleep and make your skin healthy, smooth and radiant, restores skin vitality. It is a non-greasy formula and there is no need to rinse off. Any mask that can be used at night while sleeping is great as in if something works for you while sleeping, what could be better than that! Value of Sample- S$1.50.

4. Love More Facial Masks- Mediterranean Pomegranate, 1 pc of 25ml (Retail Price- S$8.90 for 5 pcs)- Love More masks are available in different variants. Mediterranean Pomegranate is for skin brightening. With all the sun and humidity of Singapore that takes a toll on your skin. Value of Sample- S$1.78.

5. Lunamer Brightener, 20ml (Retail Price- S$60 for 100ml)- A skin-purifying and energising beauty essence that wipes away dullness-causing aged keratin and dirt, and recharges skin by delivering moisturising ingredients deep into the corneal layer. It is recommended for use in night after cleansing your face. When I tried this product, it did result in an instantaneous glowing skin. Already loving it. Value of Sample- S$12.

6. Astalift Essence Destiny, 5ml (Retail Price- S$132 for 30ml)- Astalift Essence contains a higher concentration of Astaxanthin, the wholesome goodness of Royal Jelly, skin-firming Elastin and three different types of moisturising Collagens. It has a gel like texture and leaves your skin really soft and supple on use. Value of Sample- S$22.

7. Astalift Jelly Aquarysta, 5g (Retail Price- S$148 for 40g)- Packed with the nourishing goodness of Ceramide, Jelly Aquarysta contains the world’s smallest ‘human-type’ Nano-Ceramide molecules to maximise absorption into skin to replenish lost Ceramide (due to ageing), enhance skin’s moisture retention ability and maintain optimum levels of moisture in skin. The unique light-as-water jelly texture enables a highly-concentrated and stable blend of skin-loving nutrients to penetrate deeply into skin for optimum nourishment.  Value of Sample- S$18.50.

8. Kerastase Elixir Ultimate Oleo- Complexe, 3ml Vial (Retail Price: S$62 for 125ml) is a lighly fragrant beautifying hair oil for all hair types. It can be used as a conditioner before shampoo or as leave in treatment after shampoo. It contains a combination of camellia, argan, maize and pracaxi oils and Vitamin A, E and F with omega 3 and 6. It gives shine and nourishment to hair. It is one of my favorites for being light and non greasy leave on product. Value of Sample- S$1.50

So, this was all about my personalized Vanity Trove. All products look promising and would love to see what really works for my skin after trying out for a few days. [Review] Vanity Trove- July 2013

The Vanity Trove of July 2013 came packed with beautiful surprises, with the theme 'Midsummer Gala'. The products with this theme are meant to rejuvenate the heat-exhausted skin in the mid of summer season.

The trove comes with a fashion & beauty journal Vanity, which gives detailed information about the products to be included in the trove every month and also has some offers and discount coupons. The brands selected for July's Midsummer Gala were VICHY NORMADERM, NEUTROGENA, JANE IREDALE, PHYSIOGEL, HERBORIST, D'GLAMOURIC, SKIN INC and AVANCE. I received a lot of products in July Trove and let me tell you all about them.

1. Physiogel Cleanser, 60ml (Retail Price- S$18.90 for 500ml) is a soap free cleanser suitable for all skin types and the best part is that it can be used with or without water. It helps in maintaining the skin's moisture balance. When used with and without water, it did not cause dryness. It can be used on face and body. It  can also be used for babies (printed on the cover). Value of sample- S$2.27.

2. Physiogel Cleanser, Lotion and Cream Sachets, 10ml, 10ml and 3ml (Retail Price: Cleanser- S$18.90 for 500ml, Lotion- S$33.90 for 200ml, Cream- S$22.85 for 75ml) The lotion helps in skin repair and hydration. This can also be used for the face and body. The Cream contains natural lipids, similar to those in the skin and revitalize and protect the dry skin. The samples could not be tried yet because of the sachets (This is why I don't like Sample Sachets!) Value of Samples: Cleanser- S$0.38, Lotion- S$1.75, Cream- S$0.91.

3. SKIN INC Repair Pcynogenol Serum, 30ml (Retail Price- S$169 for 30ml)- In the June Vanity Trove, I received SKIN INC Regenerate Vitamin A Serum (which I am currently using and loving it!) and this time, out of the two products selected for the trove I got Repair Pcynogenol Serum containing anti-oxidants that helps in moisturizing skin and combating ageing. It has beady texture and when tried, the serum leaves the skin moisturized and soft. I think I am already falling in love with this serum. The other product was SKINC Regulate Vitamin C Serum, which helps in minimizing the pores and outbreak of pimples. The selection of product for my trove shows the personalization of trove where I mentioned in my beauty profile that I have no pimples or any other skin inflammation.

Also, there is Voucher from SKIN INC for a free treatment. Waiting to go for it as well :)

4. Jane Iredale Skin Care Makeup Set

[Review] Who's the best of them all??

Hey lovely ladies,
After receiving the first box from the three beauty subscription boxes- BellaBox (Read the review here), Vanity Trove (Read the review here) and Glamabox (Read the review here), I could not help but compare the products and value that you get out of them. Let me give a comparison for all three and will help you in a better selection if you wish to subscribe. Please take note that this post is not sponsored and the views are based on my opinion of one box from each service. Next time, it could get better or worse. So please use your discretion in making any decision.
Let's talk about the boxes now-

1. Subscription Cost and Reward Points
BellaBox- The subscription is priced at S$19.95/month with 19 reward points or at S$219.45 for 12 months, with 219 reward points and one month free. Reward points can be used to make purchase at bellabox shop and every 100 points is equivalent to S$10, which can be redeemed for shopping on their shop. Also you can earn points by writing product reviews, shopping on bellabox shop or by referring friends.
Vanity Trove- S$ 25/ month and no credits, S$75 for 3 months and 225 credits, S$150 for 6 months with 1050 credits and S$300 for a year with 4500 credits. Every 100 credits give you S$D1.00, which when accumulated to S$ 25.00, can be redeemed for a complimentary Trove.
Glamabox- S$18/ month with 10 Glama Points, S$108 for 6 months with 60 points and S$198 for a year and 110 points. Points can also be earned by referring friends and by shopping for full size products  and can be redeemed for shopping.
With this, I feel that Bellabox offers the best value for money in terms of the points.

2. Product Selection and Value of Samples-
Bellabox came with a good mix of products like makeup, skincare, fragrance etc. with some vouchers and the monetary value of products was around five times more that the subscription cost. Vanity Trove also came with a good selection of products covering even wider range with hair care, skincare, makeup and diet and the monetary value of products was around eight times the subscription cost.
Glamabox had all skin care products and a diet product and so I was not very happy with the variety and the monetary value of products was around six times the subscription cost. The problem here was some of the products were very close to their expiry date and by very close I mean expiring in July 2013.

3. Online Store to buy full size products
Bellabox has an online store to buy the products that you have already tried and you can redeem your reward points while shopping.
Vanity Trove does not have an online store.
Glamabox also has an online store and some products are available there and here also you can redeem your Glama Points.

The Verdict
After all the experience and observation, I would say Vanity Trove and Bellabox have a close competition. I liked Vanity Trove the best although it is most expensive as far as the subscription and rewards go but the products are good and of high value. Bellabox came next with a decent price and good selection of products and also the presence of online store and high value reward points. Glamabox did not come upto my expectations in terms of product variety and the expiry date factor really pissed me.
But you never know, I may be surprised next time.

Have you tried any of these boxes? How do you feel about them? Do leave a comment and share your experience.

Vitamin A keeps the skin healthy by increasing cell metabolism and circulation. The light serum with encapsulated beads has a lovely visual appeal as well. Value of Sample- S$158.00 (Full size)

8. ULTIMATE COLLAGEN, 2X9.5g sachets (Retail Price: S$88 for 30 Sachets). Powdered collagen supplement, which is to be mixed with water or juice and taken with a meal preferably breakfast for healthy joints, bone, skin, hair and nails. Value of Sample- S$5.86.

So, the mix of products explain why the Trove Subscription has a higher price. All the products sound promising and would definitely like to use them for a while and see how they work. It would be fun to receive such surprises every month and if you also love surprises, go for a Vanity Trove subscription at Vanity Trove

[Review] Vanity Trove- Delivering Beautiful Surprises

Hi Lovely People,
As promised in my post last week, bellabox- Beauty in a Box, here I come with another beauty sample box which is quite popular in Singapore- Vanity Trove. The concept is the same as that of other subscription beauty boxes. You subscribe for a monthly fee (SGD 25/ month and no credits, 75 for 3 months and 225 credits, 150 for 6 months with 1050 credits and 300 for a year with 4500 credits) and every month you get a box full of beautiful surprises delivered at your doorstep. Also every 100 credits give you SGD1.00, which when accumulated to SGD 25.00, can be redeemed for a complimentary Trove. It partners with some of the premium beauty brands to send the hand picked 'beautiful surprises' for you every month. Interesting!
So, those were the details!  I subscribed to Vanity Trove and received my first box on Thursday and since then I've been waiting to write about it.
Let me show you how it looks like

Vanity Trove June 2013

A peek into the contents of Vanity Trove June 2013

The theme was 'Summer Crush' and the box was packed with some interesting products. I will talk about the products in detail in my next post. In the meanwhile, I would like to share what was great and not so good about Vanity Trove...

What I loved about Vanity Trove

1. The packing of the Trove looks great and like all women, I love surprises more when they are presented well!
2. There is a Vanity book, which talks about the current theme, the products for the month and other beauty and fashion related stuff.
3. You get to try  new products before actually buying them and sitting at home.
4. You get vouchers for other services like spa, beauty treatments etc.
5. The excitement to open and see what surprises awaits you when you receive your box.

What is Not-so-Great about Vanity Trove
1. The Trove is priced at S$25.00 a month, which is actually the highest price I've come across for such kind of service.
2. The credit conversion rate is 100 credits is S$1.00, seems quite low!
3. There is no online connected beauty store from where you can buy the products you try.

But inspite of all that receiving beauty surprises every month is a wonderful thing that can happen to a woman. So if you would like to subscribe for your own Trove, You may do so at Vanity Trove
Look out for the next post on Contents of Vanity Trove June 2013
