[Sponsored Review] Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Light Lotion

I received this full size Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Light Lotion from Sample Store (https://www.samplestore.com) for review...

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Light Lotion

Must say I really love the new packaging of Sample Store and also their new website... go on give it a try!!

Sample Store New Packaging

Sample Store New Website

Product Description
Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid (SHA) Hydrating Light Lotion is enhanced with SHA and Nano Hyaluronic Acid. It deeply hydrates and tones the skin texture, giving you soft and supple skin. This is suitable for Oily to combination skin, basically for those who prefer light texture.

Nano Hyaluronic Acid- This has a small molecular weight, which enables it to penetrate deeply and retain moisture.

SHA- This has excellent moisture retention abilities.

Product Features

  • It helps to lock moisture for better hydration. Skin feels soft and supple.
  • Non-sticky feeling
  • pH balanced . Low irritation.
  • Free of fragrance, mineral oil, alcohol and colourant.
Good For
Oily to Combination Skin

My Impression about the Product
Texture and Fragrance
The lotion has watery gel like texture. It spreads easily but takes some time to absorb and the skin feels sticky for 2-3 minutes after application.

How I used the Product
After cleansing, I used Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Light Lotion both during the day and night. 3-4 drops are enough for application.

Watery Gel Texture- feels like water

The Effect
The product has a watery gel like texture and spreads easily on the face but the skin  tends to remain sticky for 2-3 minutes. After that it does feel soft and supple.

The Verdict
The Hada Labo SHA Hydrating Light Lotion is quite effective except for the stickiness that I experienced initially on application. Because of stickiness, I need to wait for a while before applying the moisturizer or make-up. Once it dries up, there is no greasiness or stickiness for atleast 4 hours, which is a decent time.

Since it hydrates the skin well, I can skip my moisturizer and can go directly to applying primer if I have to apply make-up.

Will I buy it again?
Maybe, but not sure if I should because of the stickiness that I experienced and which leads to waiting time.

Retail Price
S$22.90 for 170ml

Where can you buy?
Watsons or go over and register at Sample Store  to get a free sample.

SO, if you are looking for a Lotion (Toner) and don't mind a few moments of stickiness and  for a grease free look, this is a great pocket friendly option.

Signing off for now...

[Sponsored Review] Mary Kay Foundation Primer Sunscreen SPF 15

I received full sized Mary Kay Foundation Primer Sunscreen SPF 15 for review.
I have been using this product for few weeks now and did find it worth writing about.

Product Description
This is a light-weight gel primer with UVA/UVB protection creating a perfect canvas for flawless foundation application. It makes the skin look smoother and also extend the wear of makeup. The primer is oil-free, comedogenic (won't clog pores) and is fragrance free.

Good For
All skin types and also sensitive skin.

My Impression about the Product
Texture & Fragrance
The product is fragrance free and has a gel like texture.
It spreads easily and is absorbed well, leaving the skin with a very slight powdery feel. It looks like nothing is applied on the skin.

How I Use the Product
After cleansing, toning and moisturizing, I apply a 10 cent coin amount on my face and blend it well with fingers, before applying make up.

The Effect
The skin becomes really soft and smooth and the makeup also stays on for longer. What I like is the non-sticky, powder like feel that you get on application. Being lightweight, it really seems to be a great product for before-makeup application.

The Verdict
After a long search, I could find a face primer that is so light and absorbs well. Definitely this is gonna be one of my must-haves. This is an all in one product, which acts as Moisturizer, sun protect and primer.

Will I buy it again?
Definitely and also recommend it specially if you tend to have oily skin after applying make-up

Retail Price
S$40

Where can you buy it?

[Review] Mary Kay Botanical Effects Mask

I attended a workshop by Mary Kay conducted by a friend of mine... where I was introduced to Mary Kay's range of skin care and make up products. Will talk about the workshop in detail in a later post but one product that really caught my fancy was a cleansing mask from the Botanical Effects Skin Care Range from Mary Kay.

Product Description
This is a clay-based mask for cleansing, which will absorb oil where needed and hydrate the dry areas, while cleansing pores and leaving the skin looking fresh and renewed. The products in this range also have anti-oxidants, which help in anti-ageing and keeps the skin healthy, making it firm and elastic at the same time. This can be used 2-3 times a week. There are different products for Dry, Normal and Oily skin.

My Experience
I used the one for Normal Skin. This clay based mask also has some exfoliating properties. The mask has a clayey texture and the amount shown in the pic below is good for half the face, since I tried it on half face first to see the effect.

The mask has to applied in thick layer on the face, leaving the eyes and the lips.

If you are wondering what's there on my lips? That is a lip mask, will talk about it some other time. Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes and then spray some water and gently scrub it for 15-20 seconds and rinse with water or a wet facial cloth and tadaaa...

You can see the difference in both the sides. The right side of my face where I applied the mask is much more brighter and refreshed. Also, the best part was the change in the shape of face- getting a firmer and thinner look. This was the point when I was completely bowled over by this product and could not wait to talk about it.

Will I buy it again?
Yes, definitely

Retail Price
S$40 for 113g tube

Available at
Mary Kay Independent Distributors, if you feel like getting one, do mail me at nsur20@gmail.com and I can arrange it for you through my friend.

I feel if you are looking for a product that will cleanse, exfoliate, firms and elasticise your skin, I think, this is a great product which will fit your requirements and budget.

[Review] Human+Kind All-in-one Hand+Elbow+Foot Cream

I received this Human+Kind All-in-one Hand+Elbow+Foot Cream in the Vanity Trove (To know more about Vanity Trove, read the post here).
The first thing that I found interesting about the product is the brand name Human+Kind and the tagline skincare with a conscience. It is a brand that claims for products being simple, natural, dependable and multitasking... now who doesn't love multitasking products in this stressful life.

Product Description
Talking about the product, the packaging is also interesting with an all over floral pattern with a central medallion. Then comes the fact that this product is a multitasking product- All in One Hand+Elbow+Foot cream so there is no need for three or atleast two separate products.
This cream claims of No Chemicals, No Colourants, No Parabens, No Perfume, No Additives, No Animal Testing, Dermatologically Tested, Hypo Allergenic, Suitable for Sensitive Skin and presence of 8 active ingredients- Avocado Oil, Cocoa Seed Butter, Shea Butter, Centella, Rosehip Oil, Calendula, Vitamin E and Aloe Vera..

My Views of the Product
The cream has a light creamy texture and is instantly absorbed on application. It is non greasy as well... :) I was a bit sceptical about its effect on drier parts like elbows and feet but it instantly moisturized these drier parts as well.  It has herbal fragrance. Looks like a great product when you are travelling and don't want to carry a lot of luggage around. The 50ml tube will easily fit into your handbag.

Will I buy it again?
Yes.

Retail Price: S$ 15.00 for 50ml

Available At: http://www.whathewants.com.sg in Singapore

So, if you travel a lot and need to moisturise your hand and feet often, forget about carrying so many tubes of skin care products. This single product will be an answer to all your needs.

[Review] Latest Vanity Trove

Hi Lovelies,
With the new concept at Vanity Trove, where you get to choose the sample from the given list based on your beauty profile (To know more about how it works, read here), I ordered my second box and received it on the second day... that was quick, I must say!
Let me show you what was in there...

This time I wanted to sample following products from the list provided, let me talk about them-
1. ENAVOSE Bundle Set- Alpine Edelweiss Foam Cleanser & Alpine Edelweiss Dew, 30ml each (Retail Price- Cleanser: S$ 39.50 for 120ml, Dew: S$45.00 for 120ml)- Enavose is a Swiss brand, which has products made from Natural extracts. The Edelweiss flower is known for its antioxidants, skin protection, soothing and bacteria-resistant properties. This comforting cleanser bathes skin in nourishing and age-delaying benefits. On trying, the product, I experienced a bit of dryness on my face, since I have combination skin with oily T-zone. May be the cleanser will work better for those with oily skin.
The Alpine Edelweiss Dew is a stimulating toner which revitalise, rehydrate and refresh the skin. Skin regains energy with high antioxidant protection and collagen synthesis support. A constant supply of moisture is channelled to dry areas of skin for optimal suppleness. The toner is a slightly viscous liquid with a pleasant fragrance. On application, you feel instant freshness and it definitely felt better on applying the Dew after the Cleanser, but there is still a need to use moisturizer. The products can be purchased at Suntec Enavose Concept Store, Suntec City Tower 3, #02-079/081 and Tangs Vivocity Enavose Beauty Counter, Level One Beauty Hall. Value of Sample- Cleanser: S$9.87, Dew: S$11.25.

2. CYBER COLOURS Ex Volume Waterproof Mascara

This was a full sized sample worth almost S$34.00. Will review this product in a separate post.

3. DrGL Collagen Essence, 10ml (Retail Price- S$198.00 for 30ml)- This is a light weight essence suitable for all skin types. It contains Hyaluronic Acid, which can retain upto 1000 times its weight of water. On application, it did feel moisturized and the skin felt hydrated and refreshed. Seems to be an effective product, will have to use it for a while to know exactly how it works. Value of sample- S$66.

4. Blumarine Bellissima Acqua di Primavera, 30ml (Retail Price- S$51.00)- This was another full sized sample and I will review it in another post.

5. Pearl Beauty Youth Restore with Black Pearl Essence, 3ml (Retail Price- S$21.90 for 30ml)- Pearl Beauty is low cost but effective skincare range from WATSONS. This essence is formulated for Advanced skin restoration. It restructures your skin, repairs free radical damage and slows down skin aging, all while firming and smoothing out fine lines. The essence has a light texture and is quickly absorbed leaving the skin feel refreshed and hydrated. An interesting product yet again, need to try it on for a while. Value of sample- S$2.20.

6. Sasatinnie Sugary Heart Lipgloss Palette, 01 Party Collection, 1.1g X3 (Retail Price- S$12.60)- This is a full size lip gloss palette. It contains Pearl Powder which creates a shimmering and translucent lip finish. Also it soothes and diminishes fine lines of lips, protects skin from UV damage.

The colours are interesting and are those colours, which I can use almost everyday. And did I tell you, that they smell like strawberry... WOW!

7. Aqua Rine Japanese Aroma Bath Sea Salt Peach, 50g (Retail Price- S$ 9.80 for 400g)- The Aroma Bath Sea Salt range helps to exfoliate dead skin cells and cleanse the skin. The Peach Bath Sea Salt detoxifies the skin and reduces signs of ageing with its special peach leaf ingredient. Value of Sample- S$1.22.

8. Huiji Fruity Lite, 15g X2 Sachets (Retail Price- S$6.90 for box of 12 packets)- This was the surprise product. Huiji Fruity Lite are made from all natural ingredients like high-grade hawthorn fruit and honey. In addition, it also contains added vitamin C and xylitol and helps cleanse and promote a healthy digestive system. It is conveniently packaged in easy-to-carry sachets. The taste was like fruit tea and it tasted better when chilled. It can be consumed everyday even if it may not show any health benefits, it's a nice tasty beverage. Value of sample- S$1.15.

So, this was all about the products in Vanity Trove. I could order for a good mix of products including skin care, make up, shower, fragrance and received the fruity tea as well.
This concept of selecting what you want is no doubt quite interesting as you can pick and choose from a list of products that you would really like and have a variety of products to try but on the down side-
1. The surprize element is missing. Though you get one product as a surprise but then also, I feel if you are a bit hesitant about new products or select your products based on their name and appearance, you may like to skip quite a few of the products in the list given for selection.
2. While when the products were selected by the team and given to you, one has more chances of getting a completely new product and since you have it, you might as well like to try it, so it opens up more product options for you and reduce the element of bias that may creep in when you are selecting.
3. To unlock new samples, you constantly have to like and put products into your wishlist and that is fun but after a while, it does not feel that exciting. And it kind of takes away the fun of somebody else selecting things for you and pampering you.
4. Also, the luxe brands are more often than not missing from the selection.
5. Chances of receiving a full-size sample are not so good.

So, if I give 10 on 10 for the previous concept of Vanity Trove, for this I would give 8 on 10.

[Sponsored Review] Hada Labo Perfect Gel (3-in-1 Ultra Hydrating Gel)

Hi Everyone,
I received this sample of Hada Labo Perfect Gel for review.

Hada Labo Perfect Gel (3-in-1 Ultra Hydrating Gel)

Hada Labo Perfect Gel (3-in-1 Ultra Hydrating Gel)

Hada Labo Perfect Gel (3-in-1 Ultra Hydrating Gel)
Product Description-
Sleep is the time when the body repairs itself. During these optimal seven to nine hours of sleep, the body is rested both physically and mentally from a day’s activities. The new Hada Labo Perfect Gel is introduced to to replenish the skin’s moisture while you sleep.
Being all essence, cream and mask at once (3-in-1), the Hada Labo Perfect Gel is also suitable for daily use with the ability to provide 24 hours deep moisturizing effect with its five main ingredients.
The Hada Labo Perfect Gel has a rich cream texture that is non-sticky, allowing your skin to feel light even after applying. Its versatility and effectiveness has won the hearts of so many women that it is No.1. Sales in ‘All-in-One’ gel product segment in Japan.

Hada Labo Perfect Gel contains-
3 Types of Hyaluronic Acid for deep and long-lasting moisturization:

  • Hyaluronic Acid is able to hold 6l of water per gram, providing intense moisture to the skin when applied.
  • Super Hyaluronic Acid is able to hold 2X as much water than Hyaluronic Acid per gram, providing maximum moisturization.
  • Nano Hyaluronic Acid is able to penetrate deep into the skin, providing long lasting and deep moisture to the skin.

Collagen:
As the body’s collagen levels decline, the skin starts to age with wrinkles, large pores and poor skin clarity. The Hada Labo Perfect Gel contains collagen to provide firm, elastic and wrinkle-free skin.

Ceramide:
Skin that lacks ceramide is often dry, irritated, and often easily affected by the sun and dust in air. Hada Labo Perfect Gel help to hold and repair the surface skin cells together for a healthy, smooth skin.

Good For
All skin types

My Impression about the Product
Texture and Fragrance
The texture was more like a Gel than Cream. It spreads easily but takes time to absorb and if taken in a little more quantity, tend to feel a bit sticky. The product smelt like chemicals, which for me is not a very pleasing smell.

Hada Labo Perfect Gel (3-in-1 Ultra Hydrating Gel)- Gel like Texture
How I used the Product
I used the Hada Labo Perfect Gel as a part of my night-time skincare routine. After cleansing my face and applying toner, I took a generous amount of Perfect Gel and massaged on my face till it was absorbed.

The Effect
The skin felt a little sticky when I used the product for the first time but then the next night, I reduced the quantity and it was fine henceforth. The best thing about Perfect gel was when I woke up in the morning, my skin was soft and oil free (except for my nose, which is forever oily).

Hada Labo Perfect Gel (3-in-1 Ultra Hydrating Gel)
The amount of product that worked best for me- without becoming sticky
The Verdict
Hada Labo Perfect Gel is a good moisturizing product and I would prefer to use it for night than in the morning, since it acts as a sleeping mask as well. Also the stickiness that I incur, I don't mind at night. I have got the perfect morning face (non-oily) after waking up with Perfect Gel on at night, so that is the motivating factor to use the product.

Will I buy it again?
Yes, Maybe. Will definitely keep it in waiting list, for when I wish to change my current product.

Retail Price?
S$35.90 for 80g

Where can you buy it?
Watson, SaSa, Unity, Guardian.

So if you feel, Hada Labo Perfect Gel is something that you have been looking for (sleep mask, non-oily morning face), go ahead and get it!

P.S. I also received a cute Panda Eye mask as well with the Gel.

Cute! Isn't it??

[Review] Personalized Vanity Trove

In one of my posts, a few days ago, I told you all about the new Customizable Trove from Vanity Trove (You may check the post here). Well, I got my Personalized trove on Monday (they tried to deliver earlier but we were out for the weekend and I was not there to collect it) and let me show you how it was and what was there inside (of course, it was not a surprise as I only selected all the products, but to get to try things you really wanted to... is wonderful!).
The trove came in a beige and gold packing than their usual white and pink.

What I love most about Vanity Trove is their packaging. It really feels good when you receive your beauty products in beautifully packed boxes. Really appreciate the efforts of the team for making the trove so lovable. Let's see what is inside this luxurious gold trove

These were the products that I selected from their list which was given based on my beauty profile. I selected seven products and one was given as a bonus from the Team. Thank you Vanity Trove!!!

This toner leaves your skin refreshed. Value of Sample- S$6.65.

Bio-essence Bird's Nest Nutri-Collagen & Whitening Sleeping Mask, 3g (Retail Price- S$29.80 for 60g)-  This is a whitening mask, which will work while you sleep and make your skin healthy, smooth and radiant, restores skin vitality. It is a non-greasy formula and there is no need to rinse off. Any mask that can be used at night while sleeping is great as in if something works for you while sleeping, what could be better than that! Value of Sample- S$1.50.

4. Love More Facial Masks- Mediterranean Pomegranate, 1 pc of 25ml (Retail Price- S$8.90 for 5 pcs)- Love More masks are available in different variants. It is recommended for use in night after cleansing your face. When I tried this product, it did result in an instantaneous glowing skin. Already loving it. Value of Sample- S$12.

6. Astalift Essence Destiny, 5ml (Retail Price- S$132 for 30ml)- Astalift Essence contains a higher concentration of Astaxanthin, the wholesome goodness of Royal Jelly, skin-firming Elastin and three different types of moisturising Collagens. It has a gel like texture and leaves your skin really soft and supple on use. Value of Sample- S$22.
